Just Thinking...

I was just thinking about where spiritual maturity begins... I think, maybe spiritual maturity begins when we stop trying to shape God into our image (what we think He is, or should be), and we start letting God shape us into His image (what He thinks WE should be).

It's just a thought.

  1. I know my spiritual maturity began when I wanted what my best friend had... Jesus ! She was growing spiritally, and I was getting quite jealous ! She was learning more of the word, digging in deeper, and I wanted to be just like that. As I began my walk with Him, I realized that ANYONE could walk His great walk, they just had to invite HIm into their life... and understand His Word, and LIVE it.

    Blessings !

  2. Well, one thing the Apostle Paul equates spiritual maturity with is found in Romans 14. He basically says that if you are strong enough to understand that not everyone has the same conscience as you in certain disputable matters, then you are mature. His list concerns such things as drinking wine, thinking that holy days (akin to church services) have to be attended at a certain time or a certain amount, etc. Maturity, as shown by Paul in this passage, is summed up in the fact that you neither condemn nor look down on others who do not share your same beliefs in the grey areas. Immature people are usually determined to force everyone else into their own spiritual box.
